Stefanie Posavec Writes without Words

NotCot posted high resolution examples of Stefanie Posavec’s Writing Without Words project a while back. Possavec creates exhilarating representations of written narratives as “literary organisms”. The project spans a number of prints and books examining the length and content of the various chapters of a number of classic books.

There is something to be said for beautifully executed infographics. The First Chapters page is worth a look, evoking feelings that literature often lead the reader in circles – with F. Scott Fitzgerald being the unexpected exception.

The most unique part of the works comes in the form of the way Possavec represents a single sentence, broken down into concentric circles. Each circle representing an individual word or grammatical element that exposes the rhythmic texture of the sentence.
